The design philosophy for the external environment was to provide bold, contemporary but above all else a robust series of spaces that have the potential to provide an inspirational learning environment.
This was achieved through the creation of a range of functional, playful and stimulating spaces and by recognizing the sensitivities of the site and incorporating the existing semi-natural landscape and topography within the design rationale. This was successfully achieved through the provision of angular sculptural terraces which also function as windbreaks and biodiversity corridors.
An irregular shaped pedestrian spine route that runs the entire length of the site, reinforces the structure and forms the backbone of the external environment with the main spatial elements located directly off the spine.
